聖誕節是歐美國家一年中最重要的節日。它原本是耶穌基督（Jesus christ）誕辰紀念日，如今已成為西方國家全民性的節日，頗似中國的春節。聖誕節定於每年12月25日，而聖誕節節期（Christmas Season）往往持續二周。這段時期里，雪片般的賀卡飛往世界各地，電話線、通訊網頻繁地傳遞人們的祝福和問候；大街小巷粉飾一新，商店櫥窗前大減價、大拍賣的廣告格外醒目；到處可見人們拎著大包小包的節日用品匆匆而過，到處可聽見歡快的歌聲和笑聲。車站、機場里此時擠滿了盼望回家的人群，因為聖誕節也是家人團聚的日子。無論外出多遠，人們都會想方設法趕回家與親人團聚。

新年（New Year's Day）
在西方國家，盡管聖誕節才是最大的節日，新年在人們心目中仍佔有不可替代的重要地位。除夕之夜（New Year's Day）晚會是慶祝新年到來必不可少的活動。西方各國的人們都喜歡在歡快的樂曲和絢麗的光彩中喜氣洋洋地度過一年的最後一個夜晚。此時，化裝晚會特別受歡迎。來賓們把尊嚴和謹慎藏在面具之後，打扮得稀奇古怪。大家無拘無束，盡情玩樂，與平日的行為大相徑庭。在英美兩國，午夜鍾聲一響，參加晚會的人們還要手拉手高唱"友誼地久天長"這首著名的蘇格蘭民歌。

情人節（Valentine's day ）
每年2月14 日 ，在春回大地之時，歐美各地的人們都會歡度情人節（又名「聖瓦倫丁節」）。在這個充滿了浪漫與幻想的節日里，情侶位互拆衷腸。許多人選擇這一天訂婚、結婚；各地 的大學、中學 和一些團體俱樂部主辦熱鬧非凡的情人舞會；商店裡推出各種表達柔情蜜意的禮品，劇院里演出以愛情為主題的戲劇節目，報刊雜志則刊登永志史書的羅曼史……

愚人節（April fool's Day）
一年中有一天西方國家的人可以名正言順地說謊，取笑別人，當然也會被人取笑。不僅如此，誰編造的謊言最離奇，最能騙人，那麼他就會榮獲「桂冠」。在這個盡情開玩笑的日子裡，有些玩笑雖然開得過火，近乎惡作劇，可是人們並不在意，因為大家都知道這一天是愚人節。

復活節 （Easter）
復活節是為了紀念耶穌被釘上十字架，3天後死而復活的基督教節日。它是基督教與古代所謂異教風俗的結合物。據說復活節（Easter）一詞源於盎格魯撒克遜民族神話中黎明女神的名字Eostre。它的願意是指冬日逝去後，春天的太陽從東方升起，把新生命帶回。由於該詞喻意新生，於是被基督教教徒借用過來表示生命、光明、歡樂的恩賜者耶穌再次回到人間。按照習俗，復活節的日期是3月21日起月圓後的第一個星期日。如果月圓正值星期日，則要順延至下一個星期日。歷年復活節的實際日期最早可在3月22日，最晚則要挪到4月25日。根據各國不同的規定，人們都會或多或少休假幾天。一般來，大學都從復活節開始放春假，假期長達三四周，短的也有一兩周。過去，在多數西方國家裡，復活節一般要舉行盛大的宗教遊行。遊行者身穿長袍，手持十字架，赤足前進。他們打扮成基督教歷史人物，唱著頌歌歡慶耶穌復活。如今節日遊行已失去往日濃厚的宗教色彩。節日遊行洋溢著喜慶的氣氛，具有濃烈的民間特色和地方特色。在美國，遊行隊伍中即有身穿牛仔服踩高蹺的小丑，也有活潑可愛的卡通人物米老鼠。在英國，遊行多以介紹當地的歷史和風土人情為主，遊行者化裝成為蘇格蘭風笛樂隊以及皇宮衛士，吸引了眾多的遊客。復活節的到來還使人們紛紛換上新衣。過去基督教教徒會在節前去教堂行洗禮，然後穿上自己的新袍，慶祝基督的新生。穿戴一新的習俗保留至今，因為人們認為節日里不穿新衣是要倒運的。復活節期間，人們還喜歡徹底打掃自己的住處，表示新生活從此開始。

萬聖節前夕（Halloween）
假如你在10月的某一天徜徉在美國、英國或愛爾蘭等國的街頭，忽然發現到處掛滿了面目猙獰鬼臉。商店門外的音箱不時發出鬼怪凄厲的叫聲，你應該立刻意識到一年一度的萬聖節（All Saints's Day or All Holy Ones' Day ）再次來臨了。

上高一，以一個過來人的身份跟內您說一下，您兒子要真的對英語容興趣不大，英文歌曲英文的小說、故事是很難讓您的兒子對英語發生多大的興趣的。本來興趣這種事情就不是可以強求的，就算要培養也得有一定feeling才行。
說說我的建議吧，可以找一些他比較感興趣的電影或者連續劇看看，個人覺得要有中英字幕的，但是絕對要英語原版發音，第一次先看中文字幕的，以後慢慢開始看英文字幕的。。。英文歌曲一些人只是瞎聽而已，聽得是節奏和曲調，內容是無視的，還有跟您說一聲，要英文歌曲或者小說網路一下一大堆，不用提問哦！
