How can a student love his country (be patriotic)? I find my answer very simple and clear. He must study hard and store up knowledge so as to serve his (the) country in the future. If every student can do according to what I said, the country will certainly be rich and powerful.

一、讀正語音
語音是指語言的聲音．就是人說話的聲音。語言首先是通過聲音來幫助交流思想的工具。在英語學習中很好地掌握正確的發音，不但有利於從聲音方面來表達思想，而且還可以提高朗讀水平。讀正語音就必須認真讀好48個音素，記住48個音標符號，能根據音標正確拼讀出單詞的讀音，這是學習英語很重要的基本功。也是朗讀好課文的基礎。重要的是從一開始就要努力說得一口純正的語音。只有多聽、多模仿、多朗讀。即Practice makes perfect(多練出真功)。
二、讀准語調
發音純正，讀准了單詞，語調不對，不但聽起來不舒服，英美人甚至難以聽懂言者的意思；相反如果語調正確，個別單詞讀不準，聽起來像英語調子，英美人還能從語調上猜出言者的意思，所以語調比發音更重要。語調是說話的腔調，就是一句話里語音高低輕蘑的配置。英語語調主要表現在句子重音和聲調上。語調不同，表達意思也各異。例如：She is a baby doctor．如僅重瀆babv這個詞，意思是「她是兒科醫生」；如果同時還重讀doctor則表示「她是沒有經驗的醫生」(quite young and unexperienced doc—tor)。又如thank you如果讀成降調則表示感謝；如果讀成升調，則毫無感謝之意，有時甚至還表示反感。讀准語調就是要讀准句子的重音和聲調：當然也應能抑揚頓挫地連讀、弱讀、失去爆破、同化等。在朗讀時，認真模仿英語錄音帶提供的標准語調，堅持練習，使正確的語音語調牢同地同定下來，保證今後一開口就能瀆得對、讀得准。
三、把握節奏
英語的節奏是指英語諸音節在語流中強讀和弱讀的規律性。它以「步」(foot)為基礎，每句話都有若干「步」，就好像音樂中的「小節」(bar)一樣，每段樂曲都含有若干小節。樂曲中每個小節都以強拍開始；英語中，一般說來每一步的第一個音節都是重讀音節。有的步單獨一個重讀音節組成，有的步由一個重讀音節加上若干非蓖讀音節組成。在朗讀中，有的步有時也能以非重讀音節開始，就如樂曲中的小節以休止符開始一樣．這個步的非重讀音節前也有個休止符，稱為silent beat。現在，我們用「／」表示步與步之間的界線，用「一』表示休止。舉例如下：
1．one／two／three／four／five
2．「the／first of／April／nineteen／seventy／one／
每個人說話的速度各不一樣，同一個人在不同的環境條件、不同的情緒時說話的快慢也各不～樣。但是，在採用某一種語速的過程中，每步所需要的時間大致上是相同的，就像音樂中每個小節所佔的時間相同一樣，這就形成了節奏。為了保持節奏，包含音節多的步的語速就必須比包含音節少的語速快一些。因此，學生朗讀課文。就必須懂得英語的節奏，自覺地實踐。學會有節奏的朗讀。

語速是指朗讀時的快慢程度。慢讀與快讀都有一定標准。慢瀆，重在讀准詞、片語、短語、意群和句子基礎上，進而注意語言速度。即慢中求准，慢中求快。因此，慢讀的速度應根據自己的實際情況而定；快讀，即以每分鍾148個音節左右的正常語速朗讀，或根據文章內容上的需要(如為了刻畫人物，表達感情)朗讀。語速影響聽的效果，所以語速不可太快或太慢，否則都達不到「讓人聽清楚」的目的。讀速過快會造成句子重音、意群和節奏方面的錯誤，還會造成發音不到位、加音、吞音、誤讀以及移行時的突然中斷，影響意思的表達。所以要力求讀准，發音清楚、正確。當然，朗讀並不是越慢越好。隨著熟練程度的提高和朗讀技巧的掌握，讀速可以逐步加快。朗讀應力求流利(nuentlv o流利即快而清楚，通暢。但一定要注意，流利並不是「速度過快」(very‰t o有些學生在朗讀時速度較快，但時而停頓並不通暢，仍不能讓人聽清楚。這里應明確的是讀得流利、說得流利是我們的目標。
