正當鴨媽媽再一次轉過身來數著她這些漫不經心過馬路的孩子們時,卻發現少了兩只,原來,有兩只小鴨子失足跌落在路旁的下水道里。鴨寶寶毛毛失聲喊著:「媽媽,快救救我們啊。」咪咪嚇得臉色發白尖叫著:「這里又臟又臭又嗆人,我們快受不了啦。」鴨媽媽急得像熱鍋上的螞蟻——團團轉。
就在這個危急的時刻,鴨媽媽沉著冷靜,突然想起了捨己救人、有難必幫的巡警叔叔。它急速奔向巡警值班的崗亭,沖進崗亭「嘎嘎…嘎嘎…」直叫,向巡警求助。巡警們把鴨媽媽趕到崗亭外,可鴨媽媽急了,它撲打起那羽翼豐滿的翅膀向巡警們發出了哀求的聲音。巡警們瞪大眼睛似乎聽懂了鴨媽媽要說的話,他們知道了鴨媽媽有急事需要求救,於是便緊跟著鴨媽媽來到了「出事地點」。
掉入下水道的兩只鴨寶寶正在掙扎著,咪咪和毛毛一會兒沉入水底,一會兒浮出水面,一個勁兒地吐著泡泡,很顯然,它們已經體力不濟了。其他的鴨寶寶們圍成一圈正在不停地鼓勵、安慰著它們:「別著急,媽媽一定會有辦法的。」「媽媽去找巡警叔叔幫忙,馬上就會來救你們的,一定要堅持住。」
巡警們及時趕到了出事地點,只見已經有許多人圍在下水道旁,他們不嫌臟不嫌臭試著用各種方法來救小鴨子。這時,剛好一位漁夫挑著魚簍從路邊走過,一位巡警看了看魚簍,靈機一動,叫住漁夫。他將魚簍借來,並找來一根繩子,系在魚簍上,慢慢地放進了下水道。鴨媽媽彷彿看懂了什麼,對著鴨寶寶喊道:「快游進魚簍里,快,快。」於是兩只鴨寶寶紛紛遊了進去,巡警們將魚簍輕輕地提起,兩只鴨寶寶乖乖地坐在簍里,被救了出來。一位巡警端來一盆清澈的溫水,小心翼翼地將鴨寶
