1.單詞發音有問題
比如我作為四川人去聽浙江朋友講方言，對方說的字我可能全認識，可還是聽不懂對方在講什麼。這是因為同樣的字我的發音和對方發音不一樣。聽到對方發音，也根本想不到對應的字。同理，有些同學的單詞發音和標准發音相去太遠，自然聽力聽不懂。
其實單詞發音只要基本正確無需十分地道就能聽懂英文聽力。英文全世界都在用，各地有各地的一點口音，也並不影響交流。但是有些朋友錯得太離譜，尤其是重音和母音，聽不懂聽力也不奇怪。
產生這種現象的重要原因是很多朋友們極其不重視單詞發音。剛學單詞時可能還讀一讀，後期完全不讀單詞的朋友不在少數。再加上，國內考試很多聽力都比閱讀簡單太多，口語也不考或者考了也不計入成績。這實際上在變相鼓勵大家不讀單詞只記意思，不重視聽說，只重視閱讀。
但是不管出國考試，還是生活工作實用，聽力能力都是必須的。所以，背單詞時，千萬別忘了首先練習朗讀單詞。不管你是高二，大三還是研一，如果單詞發音這關沒過，都要盡快補上。學音標，學習自然拼讀，自己練習拼讀，用音頻跟讀。總之，要經常朗讀你背過的所有單詞，要做到看到單詞第一反應都是正確的發音，而不是之前錯誤的發音。

英語語音語調的一條基本規律就是是對於表義十分重要的實詞會比較清晰，虛詞會快一些，模糊一些。所以只要熟悉單詞的正確發音，一般都能聽出實詞，再結合語境猜一猜，也能聽懂篇章大意。
那如何把每個字都聽出來呢？首先，學句法，多閱讀。你沒有看錯，首先不是多聽，而是學句法和多閱讀。《自然英語學習法》提出沒有語言環境學二外就要遵循"讀聽說寫"的順序，聽要在讀後。主要原因是不同於聽力，閱讀時我們可以自己把控節奏，慢慢品味，仔細思考。這有利於我們深入理解和熟悉常見的英語句子結構和邏輯範式，打下良好的句法和邏輯基礎。有了這種基礎，聽聽力時有聽不懂的地方，我們也可以根據自己的知識儲備自動腦補出來。
所以，可以說，很多時候我們並不是完全聽懂，而是連聽帶猜懂的。而猜的能力首先來自於閱讀的積累。
至於怕猜錯，這是沒必要的擔心。因為隨著積累增多，你猜對概率只會越來越高，無限接近100%。其間你還會體會到聽力中一種神奇的現象，即"先聽懂意思，再聽出單詞"。這是因為我們聽出了部分單詞後，根據常見邏輯推測，就能理解整句的意思。然後根據要表達的這個意思和句法知識，自然也就能判斷出原句是哪些單詞。千分之一秒前你聽不出那些單詞也全都聽出來了。
當然，這時如果你還掌握了句子語音語調的相關規律，也能幫助你識別出最初沒聽懂的原因，進一步驗證自己推測的正確性。
當然，以上心理活動（聽出主要單詞理解大意，根據邏輯腦補細節含義，根據句法補充具體單詞，根據語音語調知識驗證腦補的單詞）都是發生在電光火石之間。
所以要提升聽力水平，學習句法和大量閱讀的作用僅次於朗讀單詞。語音語調知識對聽力也是不錯的輔助，但認為聽力不好全是因為語音語調就大錯特錯了。
3.背景知識不熟悉
單詞發音沒問題，句法邏輯熟悉了，如果還聽不懂，則可能是背景知識的問題。聽我們不熟悉的話題，哪怕是聽中文也不容易聽懂啊。
英文不是中國人的語言，自然大多數英文材料也不是談中國人的事情。我們不了解背景，看不懂聽不懂也正常。
所以，學習英文的時候我們要有意識地尋找話題熟悉的材料。我最喜歡看外國人聊中國的書，何偉的《江城》曾經讓我廢寢忘食。針對聽力的話，你盡可以去播客和油途上找你喜歡或關注的話題來聽來看。
另外一個方法是，選定一個話題後，先去讀聽相關的中文材料，然後再去找相關的英文材料。我們業內把這個叫做平行閱讀法，平行聽力法。
4.有效訓練還不夠
要說有效，先說哪些無效。只練聽力不練閱讀或閱讀太少是無效的。扣字詞而不關注含義的聽力是無效的。很多同學聽得"太認真"，急切的想聽懂每個單詞，有哪一個單詞聽不懂，就焦慮慌張，結果連大意都聽不懂。這是本末倒置。
有效訓練必須是understandable input，理解性輸入。重點在於要理解，即你聽的內容必須是你感興趣的又基本能聽懂的。只有這樣才能在持續聽力訓練中逐步建立起英文表達和它的含義之間的自然連接。只有這樣才能逐步實現聽到聲音，馬上腦中就有形象，心中就有感受。
